Siphiwe Nodwele

Siphiwe is a tech entrepreneur and heads up Trident Union Capital Partners as its Group CEO. Trident Union is a technology investment company based in Johannesburg, South Africa, specializing in software development, fintech and AI-driven technology investments. Siphiwe is also the Founder and CEO of Uluntu Financial Technology, an insuretech start-up with its sole focus being the disruption of the motor and life insurance sectors across the African continent and making financial products more accessible to the masses.


Siphiwe has played a number of senior leadership roles in both the tech and investment spaces. Some of his recent roles include Managing Director of Yama Software; Chief Investment Officer of MIG, which acquired Aveng Rail under his leadership, the largest rail maintenance equipment and service provider on the African continent; and Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of JSE-listed AYO Technology Solutions. 


Siphiwe was previously the Head of Mergers & Acquisitions of Industrial Technologies at JSE-listed EOH Limited, Africa’s largest technology company by market capitalization at the time. He also sat on the board and finance and risk committee of Gibela Rail, the largest rolling-stock manufacturing facility on the continent supplying PRASA’s R73bn Rolling Stock Fleet Renewal Programme. 


Siphiwe has been involved in originating and negotiating a number of transactions in his career and has overseen well over R2bn in acquisitions. Siphiwe read his LLB at the Oliver Schreiner School of Law at the University of the Witwatersrand and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Corporate Law at the same institution, with Banking & Finance and Advanced Mergers & Acquisitions Law as sub-majors.  


Siphiwe currently serves as independent non-executive director of US-based Shared Interest, non-executive director of Guardiar South Africa, and recently stepped down as an independent non-executive director and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of JSE-listed technology company, Sebata Holdings. Siphiwe also sat on the board of the FIA Formula-E Cape Town Race.  He has well over 15 years in senior executive management experience. His skill and competencies include being a specialist in tech start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and corporate governance, commercial deal structuring and capital raising. He has a strong intellectual capacity with exceptional communication skills, and his experience as a dealmaker is complemented by his experience in representing local and international shareholders and stakeholders on company boards and committees.
