Shared Interest's work addresses a number of the SDG's. The four highlighted below are ones for which we had the most meaningful impact in 2016 and will focus our efforts in 2017.
Two-thirds of the guarantees deployed in 2016 unlocked loans that supported agricultural organizations, including cooperatives, distributors, and microfinance institutions (MFIs) serving small-scale farmers.
More than 3,000 jobs created and twenty-one small and growing business (SGBs), cooperatives, and MFIs benefited from our loan guarantees and technical assistance.
All twenty-one of our loan guarantees benefited enterprises, cooperatives, and farms owned and operated by low-income black and other previously disadvantaged individuals.
Our currently active loan guarantees unlock capital from eight different Southern African lending institutions, changing how they define a borrower as "bankable."
