Donna Katzin — Executive Director

Donna Katzin is the founding Executive Director of Shared Interest. From 1986 until July of 1994, she served as Director of South Africa and International Justice Programs for the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility. In that capacity she worked with religious bodies, institutional investors and community organizations to exert economic pressure to end apartheid, promote responsible reinvestment after apartheid, and to advance social criteria for domestic and international lending. She holds a master’s degree in Community Organization and Planning, and a doctorate in Human Services Education and Development. She is a board member of the Thembani International Guarantee Fund, Housing for HIV, and the Jewish Funds for Justice.

John Woodburn — Finance Director

John Woodburn previously served as Controller for nineteen years at Environmental Defense Inc. He was long active in the trade union movements, as an organizer for The Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, and as a labor educator at The New York District Council, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. John is also operating a consulting business, Back Room Ops, focusing on financial reporting and systems requirements of small-to-medium non-profit organizations.

Sandra Zanele Zikalala — Director of Administration

Sandra Zanele Zikalala has previously served as Research Assistant at the United Nations Office of the Special Coordinator for Africa and the Least Developed Countries, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (OSCAL, DESA). She has also served as Treasurer and Events Coordinator at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Bergenfield, and Lab Administrator at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. She is currently a candidate for Master of Arts Degree in Political Science/International Relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and holds a B.A. Degree from Bowdoin College.

Sandra (Sandi) Owens — Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

Sandi Owens is an experienced development professional who has run successful corporate and foundation fund raising campaigns for organizations as varied as the Harbor for Boys and Girls, YWCA of the City of New York, National Medical Fellowships and UNCF (United Negro College Fund).   Her strengths are in identifying, developing and enhancing mutually beneficial partnerships with the philanthropic community.  
Previously, Sandi served as Director, Foundation Relations at UNCF, having been named to that position with the national staff after three years as the Regional Foundation Director, working with the 14 UNCF area offices within Northern Field Operations.  She also had worked at UNCF in the 1990s as National Director, Foundations and New York Area Director for Individual Gifts.  
Sandi is on the Executive Committee of Early Steps, a voice for diversity in NYC independent schools, and is an active member of the Church of the Intercession.  A native New Yorker and graduate of Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH), Sandi takes time to enjoy traveling, spirited discussions with her book club members and Salsa dancing.

JAYNA TUTINO — Development Director

Prior to joining Shared Interest, Jayna Tutino served as Major Gifts Director for Oceana, and before her time with Oceana as GLAAD’s Associate Director of Individual Philanthropy (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).  Previously, Jayna had an extensive background as a campaign consultant, helping a variety of nonprofit organizations launch successful, first time fundraising campaigns.  This continues to serve as a strong foundation for her work; engaging leadership and fostering meaningful relationships still remain at the core of her philosophy.  From 2002 through 2010, she was a part time lecturer at Rutgers University, teaching an award-winning  course in Leadership, and another in Public Speaking.  Jayna holds a Masters degree in Organizational Communication.  She also proudly serves on the Board of Woodlands Wildlife Refuge in her home state of New Jersey.
